Map of Zyricus
Description: Tackus is a sprawling and rugged country in Zyricus, bordered to the north by the Ivory Realm, to the west by Eastern Daddock, and to the east by Talathyr and Xennor. This region is a land of extremes, with jagged mountains, dense forests, and wide, desolate plains that harbor a diverse and often hostile array of inhabitants. Unlike the more organized nations around it, Tackus is not ruled by a centralized government. Instead, its lands are contested by powerful giant clans and several major tribes of orcs, gnolls, and hobgoblins, creating a volatile and chaotic environment.
The giant clans of Tackus are the most dominant force in the region. These include the fearsome Clan of the Icehoof, led by Ulfar Icewalker, a legendary frost giant king reputed to have white dragon blood coursing through his veins, giving him mastery over frost magic. Ulfar's clan is known for riding massive white mammoths into battle, a sight that strikes terror into the hearts of their enemies. Another prominent giant clan is the Clan of the Frostclaw, led by Hjalmar Frostborn, a frost giant king with a deep-seated hatred for all but his kin. Hjalmar and Ulfar are often at odds, their conflicts shaping much of the region's tumultuous landscape.
Life in Tackus is marked by constant conflict and shifting alliances. The region's lack of a centralized government means that power is held by those who can take and hold it through force and cunning. The giants, orcs, gnolls, and hobgoblins of Tackus live in a state of perpetual warfare, their rivalries and battles shaping the destiny of this untamed land. Despite the chaos, Tackus is a land rich in resources, and its inhabitants are fiercely protective of their territories, ensuring that any who venture into this wild country must be prepared to face its many dangers.
Among the orc tribes, several stand out for their ferocity and influence. Drakar Bonebreaker, the tyrannical leader of Tribe Bonebreaker, is known for his relentless pursuit of battle and bloodshed. His alliance with Dragnar Bonegnasher, a gnoll warlord, has only increased his power and reach. Another notable orc leader is Garzog Skullbane, the cunning ruler of Tribe Skullbane, who is adept in politics and trade, often bartering with other nations and performing nefarious duties for the right price.
The gnolls of Tackus are equally brutal, with Thak Bloodsnout of Tribe Bloodsnout being a particularly ruthless chieftain. Thak's attempts to ally with the giants of Tackus to unseat the major orc tribes have yet to materialize, leaving him constantly at war and sowing discord. Dragnar Bonegnasher's Tribe Bonegnasher, meanwhile, is strategically allied with Drakar Bonebreaker, their combined forces posing a significant threat to their enemies.
Hobgoblins also have a presence in Tackus, with Thorg Stoneteeth of Tribe Stoneteeth being a brutal warrior who serves whichever faction currently holds power, be it giants or major orc tribes. His savage nature and willingness to prey on the weak make him a dangerous and unpredictable force.
