Lord Balor

Background: Lord Balor is a chaotic and self-proclaimed avatar and embodiement of the god of Death. Balor controls and oversees a sizeable army and a horde of fanatical zealots who workship Death and seek to undermine law and order and sow chaos and discontent across Zyricus. Balor at one point lead a relatively normal life as Sir Balor II of Orloff, a modest captain of the guard overseeing the safety and security of the town of Orloff in eastern Neldora Coast. The town of Orloff was plundered and destroyed by Cargoth the Butcher and his henchmen. An infamous adventuring party who was seeking to undermine Cargoth came across Orloff and saved Balor from the onslaught and the wreckage. This adventuring party was later recognized as the legendary party of Barachus Kahn, Exar Kuhn, Elden "The Dabbler" Rizenbar, Kharn the Merciless, Zedrick "Zed" Grimtusk and Arlissa Shadowstep. Shortly after joining the party to aid them in their efforts to undermine Cargoth the party came across a dark crypt that contained an ancient skeleton adorned in armor and outfitted with a shield, amulet and trident. The shield, amulet and trident later became known as the Regalia of Death a powerful and ancient set of evil artifacts that were powerful individually but when wielded and worn by a single individual would grant near demigod type powers. In that moment the party, primarily Barachus Kahn, urged Balor to grab the trident from the skeletal remains. Balor stepped forward trembling in fear, grabbed the trident. The party took a step back as Balor slowly genuflected and uttered three words... "my lord Death". Balor then rose, forever changed. The once noble and goodly Sir Balor II of Orloff was no longer and would only be known as Lord Balor henceforth. Barachus Kahn took possession of the shield and Zed the amulet. Barachus Kahn would later retrieve the amulet from Zed in the wake of his death. Decades later after the party disbanded due to internal conflict and strife within the group, Lord Balor would unite the three artifacts after a conflict with Kahn. It is unclear how Balor emerged victorious from the encounter with Kahn but we know he has now unified the Regalia of Death and has leveraged the unified power of the three dark artifacts to cement himself as Death’s avatar and is hellbent on growing his insidious Death Cult, “The Children of Balor” and expanding his influence across Zyricus.
